Vietnam responds to World Tourism Day

VNAT has sent an official dispatch to the departments of culture, sports and tourism along with other tourism departments across the country to respond to World Tourism Day (September 27)

The World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has chosen “Tourism and Rural Development” for the 2020 edition of the World Tourism Day.

Accordingly, the local tourism departments and associations have instructed the units to actively study the message of the UNWTO, and to actively communicate widely about the 2020 World Tourism Day through information channels such as the website, social network of units and businesses.

Meanwhile, the units were urged to raise awareness of businesses and workers in the tourism sector about the role of tourism in rural development, in order to support the recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic and contribute part of the implementation of the United Nations' sustainable development goals.

It is necessary to build and exploit products for tourism and rural development in the localities that are very attractive and high quality.

* On the occasion of World Tourism Day (September 27), along with 37 world cultural heritage sites, the Tomb of Tu Duc at the Complex of Hue Monuments has been selected to view in 3D thanks to Google Search's new augmented reality (AR) tool.

Accordingly, users from all over the world can discover more information and experience images of the Tomb of Tu Duc in AR format, helping to spread the cultural and tourism image of Thua Thien Hue Province in particular and of Vietnam in general.

Earlier, the Tomb of Tu Duc was one of 30 iconic monuments to be digitized as part of a Google project aimed at preserving some of the world’s most significant heritage sites.

The collection is part of Google’s Open Heritage Project, an initiative which enables Internet users around the world to explore iconic locations in 3D, discover the tools used by digital preservationists, and download high-resolution images of world heritage sites.
